The power of memory never ceases to amaze me. Even though I occasionally forget where I parked at the mall, I can instantly and clearly recall my bedroom from when I was six years old. I can even remember the exact sound that old TV made when I turned it off, and the first time I saw my dog when she was a puppy.
These experiences may be familiar to you as well, but it's not just a question of short-term versus long-term memory. It's a matter of finding out how and why we remember certain things and not others. By studying that process, we can learn better ways to remember new information.
